When true country music came to town in the 30’s and 40’s, it claimed bluegrass as an edgy style of honest music with a rock and roll attitude. Pioneers of the genre were equal parts virtuosos, Saturday night rock stars and Sunday morning gentlemen carving out a new niche in an urban, bluegrass landscape.
