When true country music came to town in the 30’s and 40’s, it claimed bluegrass as an edgy style of honest music with a rock and roll attitude. Pioneers of the genre were equal parts virtuosos, Saturday night rock stars and Sunday morning gentlemen carving out a new niche in an urban, bluegrass landscape. The Hotwires pays respect to those early innovators, yet strives to push past what’s expected, even within those boundaries, to shape a cutting-edge, left of center bluegrass sound thats hip, yet refined and tips a hat to the original masters of the art.
